Binghamton Food Rescue is a volunteer based organization located in Binghamton, New York that is committed to mitigating food waste, improving access to nutritious food, and promoting a sustainable food system. We practice just-in-time rescue of perishable food for 24 hour redistribution at community meals and no-cost grocery programs that serve food-insecure communities.
Our small volunteer-based structure allows us the flexibility to adapt and fill changing community needs that larger food pantries and distribution sites may miss. Many of our distribution sites are located in community centers and public parks on different days of the week to increase accessibility to the nutritious food we offer. While we strive to distribute all food on the same day it is rescued, left-over foods are taken to local food pantries or kitchens for use the next day.
